Maidenhead kill off King's Lynn - King's Lynn Town 1-4 Maidenhead United

A huge game down at the bottom of the National League where King's Lynn took on Maidenhead. Maidenhead began the day in 19th place and ahead of King's Lynn by 15 points. King's Lynn were 22nd and looked all but down if they lost today as they look doomed for the drop.

The game began and Maidenhead started strong. The Linnets had the occasional attack but never anything too serious. King's Lynn took the lead and it was Gold Omotayo who got the ball on the wing and fired it into the side netting to give the home side a massive lead. It didn't last long at all when Maidenhead equalised through Daniel Sparkes who rolled the ball into the bottom corner to level things up. The two sides went in level at the break. Maidenhead took the lead in the 53rd minute thanks to Josh Kelly who is really in amongst the goals at the moment giving the Magpies the lead after a nice run and a nice finish to give the away team the lead. Only two minutes later it was 1-3 and it was that man again Josh Kelly who beats a few players and then slots into the bottom corner for 1-3 and taking a step closer to survival. With about 15 minutes to go Ryan Upward sent Maidenhead upwards in the table after a nice goal to seal 3 points for Maidenhead.

This win saw Maidenhead jump up from 19th to 14th and surely see off any threat of relegation. Josh Kelly has now bagged 12 so far this season with another two today adding to a pretty impressive tally. King's Lynn remain 22nd 14 points away from Aldershot Town and making it the 6th loss of 2022.
