Stotfold cruised past local rivals Biggleswade United in a very feisty match between two strong sides. Two first half goals from Stotfold and a well worked third goal made sure Stotfold moved into first place in the league.
It was a cagey start to the game with big challenges going in but it was Stotfold who took the lead, A brilliant ball was swung into the box and Alex Coppin rose highest and his header found the top right corner to give Brett Donnelly's side the lead.
The game continued to be a cagey one but Biggleswade were knocking on the door. They had a good chance when Taylor Rhiney's effort was well saved by Liam Gooch. They also hit the crossbar after a great volley from distance.
Just before the interval, Stotfold got a second. This came after a corner whipped in and Dan Sears headed goalbound. This header was saved by the goalkeeper before the rebound was tucked in by Temi Akinbusoye to double Stotfold's lead.
In the second half, things heated up. There was a controversial moment when Jordan Wright fouled Temi Akinbusoye before he was stamped on by a Biggleswade player. This led to some handbags before the referee dished out two yellow cards.
With minutes to go before full time, Stotfold sealed the win. A great ball was crossed in to Charles Moss who tapped in to secure the points for the Fold.
A great win for Stotfold who go back to the top of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division and they gain another massive three points against local rivals.
